Jewish Community Services

Sixteen hundred elderly people were visited by hundreds of volunteers participating in Jewish Community Services’ annual food distribution event, Matzah Mitzvah & More. The seniors received holiday food baskets in time for Passover and, more importantly, spent time visiting with the volunteers. It is a great opportunity for children to see what it means to be an engaged member of a community and learn the joy of giving. The event was chaired by Mytyl Simancas-Bister & Sergio Bister, Pam & Howard Wolofsky, Martine & Eduardo Stern, Janet & Sarah Tralins, Danyella & Marc Ross, Helen & Alan Chaset, Yael & Jose Cherem, and Laura & Mauricio Sion. Other nutritional programs provided by JCS include a Kosher Food Bank, Meals on Wheels and congregate meal sites. The largest Jewish social service agency in South Florida, JCS annually provides critical help to more than 35,000 people of all ethnic and religious backgrounds.
