LLS Raises $611,000 at Miami Man & Woman of the Year Fundraiser
More than 300 people attended the 2014 Miami Man & Woman of the Year Journey of Hope Gala hosted by the Southern Florida and Puerto Rico Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) at the InterContinental Miami Hotel. A total of $611,000 was raised by all the candidates. Michael Parrish, Regional Managing Director of the South Region of Aon, was crowned the Man of the Year and Yvette A. Aleman, President and CEO of F.R. Aleman & Associates, Inc., was crowned the Woman of the Year.
The Man & Woman of the Year campaign is a 10-week program to raise funds to help find cures for blood cancers. The campaign recruited candidates in the community who agreed to conduct their own fundraising campaigns and compete to earn the coveted title of Man & Woman of the Year.
Each of the candidates raised funds in honor of the Boy and Girl of the Year, who are local blood cancer patient survivors and sources of inspiration to their families and to others. The 2014 Boy of the Year was Andres Hidalgo, and the 2014 Girl of the Year was Deja Webster
