The 2012 Miami Art Museum Ball, being held on Saturday, December 8, will commemorate the Museum’s 29 historical years at Miami-Dade Cultural Center while looking forward to a bright future. Next year, the Museum will reopen as Pérez Art Museum Miami in the new Herzog & de Meuron-designed facility in Downtown Miami’s Museum Park.

The final MAM Ball to be held at the Cultural Center will pay tribute to the Museum’s history and give guests a sneak peak at the exciting things to come. Dinner will be served in the upper-level gallery featuring a menu inspired by the new Museum’s waterfront bistro. Following dinner, guests will dance the night away under the stars on the magically-transformed outdoor plaza as they are joined by guests of Crash the Ball, the official after-party of the MAM Ball. New Work Miami 2013, a tribute to Miami’s local art community, will be on view in the Museum’s lower-level gallery. The 2012 MAM Ball chairs are Patricia Papper, Patricia & William Kleh, and Marcella & Daniel Novela.

Held annually since 1983, the MAM Ball caps off Art Basel Miami Beach and is attended by art collectors, artists and cultural leaders, both locally and internationally. The MAM Ball is the Museum’s main annual fundraiser. Proceeds from the event sustain the museum’s exhibitions and educational programming. Miami Art Museum has the largest art program in Miami-Dade County outside the public school system. MAM & Schools Presented by Target serves thousands of participants through the Museum’s free program: free buses to visit the Museum, free guided Museum tours for students and their teachers, free classroom visits, free support materials for teachers at Teacher Workshops, and more.
