Miami Children’s Hospital Foundation recently celebrated some of its donors at the Inaugural Diamond Society Recognition Event held at The Cruz Building in Coconut Grove.

The Diamond Society honors individuals who have provided major philanthropic support for Miami Children’s Hospital, beginning with the Champagne Diamond for a cumulative contribution of $25,000 all the way to the rarest hue of all, the Red Diamond, for those who reach a level of $10 million or more.

Members of the Diamond Society include community and business leaders; philanthropists; grateful patients, parents and grandparents; physicians; and others who share a common passion for Miami Children’s Hospital with the ultimate goal of helping ensure the health and happiness of children everywhere. Their donations support physicians, nurses, technology, research and tools that make Miami Children’s Hospital a leading pediatric healthcare institution.

Event guests had the opportunity to hear from Vanessa Martinez, whose 22-month-old daughter Luna’s life was saved by the Miami Children’s Hospital cardiac team. Luna also made a special appearance to thank the guests.

Miami Children’s Hospital Foundation President & CEO Lucy Morillo-Agnetti surprised Luna with a giant Minnie Mouse stuffed animal, which she did not let out of her sight for the remainder of the evening.

“You should feel proud that your donations support children like Luna,” said Morillo-Agnetti. “Together, we helped save her life and with your continued support Miami Children’s Hospital can help many more children.”

Attendees also had the opportunity to learn about Miami Children’s Hospital’s Together For The Children capital campaign, which aims to raise $150 million to fund the expansion of the Emergency Department, build an Advanced Pediatric Care Pavilion and invest in the talent, research and innovation that will drive discovery, advance knowledge and enable cures.

“We will see a state-of-the-art healthcare environment that accelerates medical progress and promotes healing, profoundly impacting children and the far-reaching community we serve,” said Dr. Narendra Kini, President & CEO of Miami Children’s Hospital. “We invite you to come Together For The Children so we can ensure that future generations of children and families can count on Miami Children’s.”
