The Miami Book Fair is the largest literary event in the country, which is why the city’s most esteemed attendees soar over the crowds and secure VIP seats by becoming “Friends” of the fair. Yes, it costs money but at levels beginning at $100 and rising to $5000, the added benefits have a mighty pull. Overall, it’s relationship gets you in the front for tickets – at least one will be free – to the Evenings With series, which this year means spending time with Tony Award-winning Eve Ensler, Pulitzer Prize-winning George F. Will, and Blondie front-liner Deborah Harry. Plus the ability to purchase early tickets to exclusive events.
There’s also access to other Friends in the lounge, which this year will be held at Tuyo. The modern dining experience that sits atop Miami Dade College’s acclaimed Miami Culinary Institute will offer snacks and specialties at each stage of the day, including breakfast, lunch and a cocktail experience on the Saturday evening. SocialMiami will have its own space there to photograph and mingle with this lauded group.
The fair draws some 300 renowned authors and more than 200,000 attendees, meaning lines will grow and a Friends membership could get you first for author signatures. The highest level at $5000 also secures five complimentary books by presenting authors, special recognition, invitations to author receptions and to the authors event party. All levels get free admission to the Weekend Street Fair. For more information on becoming a Miami Book Fair Friend, click here.
