Miami Children’s Museum 2012 Be A Kid Again Gala
Raises More Than $1 Million for Educational Programming!
Miami Children’s Museum (MCM) transported more than 600 attendees back in time with a 60s inspired evening at the 2012 Be A Kid Again Gala, “All You Need is Love”. More than $1 million was raised in support of educational programming with the help of generous donors, sponsors, an extensive silent auction and an exclusive live auction hosted by Big 105.9 FM Morning Host Paul Castronovo and humorist, Dave Barry.
The event was chaired by Lisa Schejola Akin, Melissa Netkin and honored world-renowed artist, Romero Britto, for his longstanding commitment to the Museum. The night’s major sponsors included Jeff and Yolanda Berkowitz, Alan Potamkin and Brigitt Rok, the Micky and Madeleine Arison Family Foundation, Baptist Health South Florida, Coastal Construction, The Fairholme Foundation, Gloria Martin, and the Miami Marlins.
Among the 600 attendees were Mayor Carlos Gimenez, CBS4’s Shannon Hori, Judge Jeri Beth Cohen, Judge Abby Cynamon, and Judge Mindy Glazer and Judge Cindy Lederman. Guests enjoyed Beatle’s themed culinary delights by Chef David Schwadron Catering and danced the night away to a dazzling multi-media performance by the famed Beatles tribute band, The Fab Four.
One of the night’s highlights was the exciting live auction emceed by the “mad men” of the evening, Dave Barry and Paul Castronovo and included a personalized Romero Britto portrait, Jaguar lease from THE COLLECTION, and LUXURY trips to Aspen, Las Vegas and the Turks and Caicos. In addition to the live auction, guests supported educational programming by bidding on over 200 items in an extensive silent auction which included a unique collector’s wine auction chaired by Bill and Beverly Parker.
