Miami Heart Ball Funds Lifesaving Research
The American Heart Association welcomed more than 350 guests to its annual Miami Heart Ball at the JW Marriott Marquis, raising significant funds for lifesaving research for heart disease and stroke. Guests enjoyed a cocktail reception with a silent auction and live entertainment from a Frank Sinatra impersonator, a life-size Plinko wall and more in the Las Vegas-themed ballroom. During the dinner program, presentations were made to Dr. Pascal Goldschmidt, Dean Emeritus of the Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine at U.M., and Dr. Italo Linfante, the Medical Director of Interventional Neuroradiology at Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute and Baptist Health Neuroscience Center. Guests participated in a spectacular live auction, shared an “open your heart” moment with Kelly Matacena who related her story of survival, and were entertained by festive showgirls who fit the evening’s theme. WSVN 7’s Vivian Gonzalez served as emcee, and Maria L. Shojaee of SHOMA was the campaign chair. Pictured: David Markowitz and Maria Shojaee
