About The Junior League of Miami
The Junior League of Miami, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.
Each year, the Junior League of Miami selects community projects for which members will devote volunteer hours during the next Junior League year. The League also provides funding for these projects and provides volunteers and resources through provisional projects and Done In A Day events. Since the Junior League’s founding in 1926, more than $3 million have been awarded to programs throughout the community. This figure does not include the League’s endowment, volunteer hours or financial support provided by individual members. The League concentrates its resources on making an impact within the areas of family violence and the health, education, and welfare of women and children in our community.
Throughout its 87 years, the League has been training its members to maximize their potential as civic leaders. Opportunities are provided through the League’s transitional housing facilities, as well as collaborations with other community organizations that share the League’s focus on families at risk. In fact, League members donated 18,000 volunteer hours in 2012 alone.
