Miami Science Museum Gala
Miami Science Museum celebrated its 60th Anniversary at a festive “Past, Present and Future” gala held at the Mandarin Oriental hotel. Three honorees were given prestigious awards representing the evening’s theme. The Junior League of Miami received the Visionary Award for their contribution in founding the museum in 1949; museum trustee, Guillermo “Willy” Gomez, received the Miami Science Museum Award for laudable volunteerism; and Florida Power & Light received the Vanguard Award for their efforts in promoting and advancing the future of the museum. Co-Chairmen Brenda Nestor Castellano and Swanee DiMare worked tirelessly to ensure the success of the event, which garnered more than $400,000.
