Miami Transplant Institute

Mission Statement

In May 2007, the Miami Transplant Institute (MTI), under the direction of world-renowned transplant surgeon Andreas Tzakis M.D., was formed to change the practice of transplantation as we know it today. This new center of excellence brings together clinicians and researchers to address the issue of transplant tolerance and to increase organ availability and quality.
Today, MTI is one of the world’s premier transplant institutes, providing a setting for the brightest minds, most advanced research, and finest patient care.

Vision: A world in which transplantation can be safely conducted for all those who need it without the need for life long anti-rejection drugs.

Mission: To save the lives of all people in need of organ and tissue transplants.

• Clinical practice: We will provide the finest care, treatment and facilities for all of our patients.
• Research: We will lead the way to prevent and control organ rejection and pioneer the development of additional sources of transplantable tissues.
• Education: We will educate the patients, the public and transplant professionals.
