Culinary Event Raises More Than $331,000 To Aid in Parkinson's Research
More than 300 charity-minded folks gathered at The Lincoln Eatery for Night at the Market – a culinary fundraiser in support of the Parkinson’s Foundation. The tasting event, which featured a slew of nationally acclaimed chefs raised more than $331,000 to invest in research to help the one million Americans living with Parkinson’s. Net proceeds support the Foundation’s many research programs and resources to make life better for people with Parkinson’s.
The sold-out affair was led by Honorary Chair Aarón Sánchez, and Co-Chairs Alison Herman and John Kozyak and emceed by CBS4’s EMMY Award-winning reporter Lisa Petrillo. The Lincoln Eatery was beautifully transformed into an intimate walk-around setting featuring delicious bites prepared by the nations most acclaimed chefs including Food Network star Aarón Sánchez; along with Stephan Pyles, James Tahhan, Sue Torres, John Mooney, and Miami-based Michael Schwartz and Richard Hales. Libations were presented by Cocktails at The Lincoln Eatery and featured restaurants included: Chill-N, Manhattan Paletas, Marble & Rye, Smoke’d, TYO Sushi and XO Espresso Bar.
The star-studded evening honored two exemplary women living with Parkinson’s – Zarela Martinez, a chef/restaurateur, cookbook author and television personality who is credited with bringing authentic Mexican cuisine to the United States and Mindy McIlroy, president of South Florida commercial real estate powerhouse Terranova Corporation. The event featured a silent auction throughout the evening, music by DJ Danny Stern and Private Property Band and gift bags for attendees. Parkinson’s Foundation also garnered significant support from the community – sponsors included Southern Glazers Wine & Spirits, Terranova, The Lincoln Eatery, Lennar Foundation, City National Bank, Greenberg Traurig, Southeastern, Miami Modern Luxury and Miami Herald.
