Join the Jewish Museum of Florida-FIU’s annual celebration of the pageantry of Purim! Enjoy this exclusive evening in the newly redesigned Emanuel Luxury Venue at Temple Emanu-El on Miami Beach. Highlights of the fabulous evening will include a cocktail reception, a gourmet four-course kosher dinner paired with specially curated wines, live music, fun entertainment and much more!

This food and wine dinner will feature a selection of local South Florida celebrity Chefs, under the direction of Chef Allen Susser, each creating and preparing on stage, one course of a four course, kosher meal. Guests will be able to watch the preparation of each course by the Featured Chef, live and projected overhead. They are then served the course, prepared by the Kosher caterer, to match the demonstrated course. A coordinating kosher wine, selected by local wine merchant Mike Bittel of Sunset Corners, is served with each course, and detailed by the Host Linda Gassenheimer, known from her radio show on WLRN.

JMOF-FIU is proud to announce the celebrity line-up of chefs for Purim Pairings 2017. They are: Brad Kilgore of Miami’s Alter and BRAVA at the Arsht Center, a 2016 Food & Wine “Best New Chef;” Aaron Brooks of EDGE Steak & Bar at the Four Seasons; Sam Gorenstein, owner of the My Ceviche chain of restaurants; and Zak Stern, owner of Zak the Baker.

In Florida, the tradition of festive events in honor of Purim began in Jacksonville in 1880, followed by Pensacola, Tallahassee and Key West. The Jewish Museum of Florida established the tradition in South Florida with its own signature event, the Inaugural Purim Ball in 2000.

About the Jewish Museum of Florida – FIU

The Jewish Museum of Florida – F.I.U. is the only museum dedicated to telling the story of 250 years of Florida Jewish heritage, arts and culture. MOSAIC: Jewish Life in Florida, the Museum’s core exhibit, depicts the Florida Jewish experience through photographs, artifacts, documents and oral histories from pioneer families to the state’s most recent arrivals. The exhibition was an 8-year statewide grassroots collecting effort, led by JMOF Founding Executive Director Marcia Jo Zerivitz. The traveling exhibit generated so much interest that by 1995, MOSAIC evolved into the Jewish Museum of Florida and the traveling exhibit became the Museum’s core exhibit, which is continuously updated to reflect Florida’s growing history. In Fall 2012, the Museum became part of Florida International University(FIU). This historic partnership strengthens awareness of JMOF’s internationally recognized institution, broadens its academic offerings and increases scholarly research of its collections. FIU will utilize the Museum’s facilities and collection to implement an academic plan consistent with JMOF’s and FIU’s shared educational, research and outreach missions.
