New World School of the Arts’ annual Rising Stars Showcase is a three-part celebration that highlights the talents of its high school and college students in both the performing and visual arts. The evening gets underway at the New World Gallery with a champagne reception and art exhibition with artwork created by both high school and college students specifically for the showcase. The performing arts lineup takes place at the Gusman Center for the Performing Arts, featuring performances by actors from the Theater division, as well as dancers and musical artists. Immediately following the performance, the festivities continue at a venue yet to be named where you’ll mingle and continue the merriment as the artistic and academic achievements of NWSA students, alumni, administration and staff are recognized. General admission tickets will be available for the performance only, and VIP tickets will include the party and performances.

About New World School of the Arts

The distinguished history of the New World School of the Arts began in 1984 when the Florida State Legislature established the institution to provide artistically talented high school and college students the means to achieve both an academic education and artistic training. In September, 1986, NWSA opened its doors to students in grades ten through twelve. New World School of the Arts is a center for excellence in the visual and performing arts. Through an educational partnership with Miami Dade County Public Schools, Miami Dade College and the University of Florida, NWSA provides a comprehensive educational program of artistic training, academic and creative development, and preparation for professional careers in the arts. Its audition-based programs are accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art, Dance, Music and Theater. NWSA offers the high school diploma as well as a four-year BFA or BM college degree. Visit www.mdc.edu/nwsa for more information.
