Social Breakfast
Coral Gables Country Club hosts SocialMiami and friends
Coral Gables was the site of SocialMiami’s most recent Social Breakfast. Michele Sadkin and I had the pleasure of hosting a group of nonprofit professionals and volunteers at the Coral Gables Country Club.
The club’s director of sales, Nathalie Merle, planned our morning and couldn’t have been more accommodating and attentive. The breakfast menu was another extravaganza: coffee and mini-muffins, a tropical fruit and berry yogurt parfait, sundried tomato quiche with goat cheese and pancetta crisp, pistachio and chocolate pancakes with wild berry compote and a homemade waffle topped with hazelnut gelato and pomegranate syrup. Delicious and elegantly served – we felt as though we were being feted in a grand European villa.
InterContinental Miami Make-A-Wish Ball
The InterContinental Miami hosted one of South Florida’s premier galas to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southern Florida – The 17th Annual InterContinental Miami Make-A-Wish Ball. The evening’s theme was Truman Capote’s legendary Black & White Ball of 1966. With a performance by rock-n-roll legend Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, an action-packed live auction emceed by Burn Notice star Gabrielle Anwar, the fourth anniversary of the InterContinental Make-A-Wish Night club, and the achievement of a $10 million lifetime fundraising milestone, the affair was a smashing success.

Saks Bal Harbour hosts Diane Von Furstenberg
More than 500 people came out to meet legendary designer, Diane Von Furstenberg at Saks Fifth Avenue Bal Harbour. The evening was hosted by Deborah Slack, vice president and general manager of Saks Fifth Avenue Bal Harbour, and Anne Owen, publisher of Miami Magazine.
The highlight of the evening was when Diane sat down in the middle of the room for an intimate chat with the guests. She talked about her life, her children and how she is a self proclaimed IPAD junkie.
