Come the month of June, it is often alleged that the summer social scene slows down in South Florida-that rumor was certainly put to rest with the stylish soiree hosted by Clare Laverty of Swire Properties and Tara Solomon of Tara Ink. In honor of the Women of Tomorrow Leadership Councils of Miami-Dade and Palm Beach County, the intimate gathering was held at the chic lifestyle hotel, EAST Miami in the heart of the highly anticipated Brickell City Centre.
The Centre, a red-hot whiff of the excitingly new in architectural style, has an added feature which brings a dose of reality for Miami summer shopping: an overhead air flow system which collects rain water, reflects sunlight and is easily mistaken for an art installation!
The evening shone a light on the best of South Florida: modern, powerful and philanthropic women; EAST Miami’s stunning atmosphere; Quinto La Huella’s extraordinary food, all gathered in celebration of the Women of Tomorrow Mentor & Scholarship Program. Founded by Jennifer Valoppi and headquartered in Miami, WOT currently mentors approximately 4000 at-risk girls each year in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach Counties. WOT has given out over $5 million dollars in college scholarship to girls (WOT mentees have a 95% high school graduation rate). These brilliant young women, who will raise the next generation, are often the first in their family to go to college or even graduate high school, proudly confided WOT’s Philanthropic Chair Marisa Toccin.
