Sports Club/LA Partners with FedEx Express for The Biggest Loser
So what happens when you take FedEx Express and The Sports Club/LA and toss in a bit of American Cancer Society? The answer is a dedication to an improved healthy lifestyle and a competition that is a win/win for all.
FedEx Express Latin America & Caribbean Division and The Sports Club/LA kick off “The Biggest Loser” competition to push others to give more, both physically and monetarily. Patti Murray, FedEx Executive and American Cancer Society Relay for Life Key Biscayne co-chair, and Yolanda Britt and Jaime Franco, also with FedEx Express Latin America & Caribbean Division, created this resolution campaign with all the proceeds benefiting the American Cancer Society. The Sports Club has generously stepped up to the plate to assist.
The concept was simple: challenge employees for 8 weeks to exercise and eat right and make lasting changes to their lives and contribute to a good cause along the way. Participating employees weigh in every week and suffer a penalty if there is a weight gain.
“In order to participate, employees were asked for an entrance fee of $20 per team member,” said Franco. “We raised more than $800 in entrance fees alone.”
Once all the rules were in place, the fun started as personal trainers from The Sports Club/LA started logging in weight, circumference, sizes and fat percentage numbers. As the numbers were recorded, the competition officially started. The kick off celebration was held at The Sports Club/LA with a private boxing class led by Advantage trainer Jeff Richards. VIP goody bags were given to all those attending which were provided by Lululemon Athletica, Vitamin Energy/Glaceau Water, Williamson Cadillac HUMMER and Splash Spa (also located on the 4th floor at the Four Seasons).
FedEx Express Latin America & Caribbean Division has also planned weekly events. In addition to the FedEx/Sports Club/LA boxing class, they have coordinated a field trip to a local grocery store to instill the notion of proper nutrition and wellness starts with what you purchase and place in your kitchen. The enthusiastic response and overwhelming participation has brought about amazing weight loss results. When asked whether this will become a yearly event for FedEx, Franco added, “Absolutely!”
