Tarell Mccraney Receives Playwright Award
Voices United alumnus, Tarrell Alvin McCraney, will be honored with an Outstanding Playwright Award by The New York Times, the first presented by the prestigious publication. The young artist will be honored for his play The Brothers Size, which recently debuted in New York City. Set in the Louisiana projects, the play is part of a trilogy and explores the West-African, Yoruba mythology. Born and raised in Miami, Florida, McCraney attended New World School of the Arts High School and obtained his BFA in acting from DePaul University and later graduated from Yale School of Drama’s playwriting program, where he studied with the late playwright, August Wilson.
