Inspired by the pride of the City Beautiful, the landmark Biltmore Hotel, and Coral Gable’s Spanish roots, the Coral Gables Community Foundation’s Gala Committee has planned an evening of romance, rich heritage and the architectural allure of Spain at its annual gala fundraiser, themed “Memories of Madrid.”
Newly renamed The Biltmore Ball to Benefit the Coral Gables Community Foundation, the black-tie affair is a time-honored tradition that supports the outreach efforts of the Coral Gables Community Foundation. Jon & Nancy Batchelor Jon & Nancy BatchelorSwanee & Paul DiMare – Jerry Santeiro Community Award On Friday, October 20 – and in the spirit of this year’s theme, Memories of Madrid – Miami’s high society will converge on The Biltmore Hotel to pay homage to the Monarchs, Matadors, Monuments, and Museums of Spain.
Co-chaired for the third year by Sissy DeMaria and Mary Young, the gala promises an evening filled with enchantment and unparalleled elegance. Just like Coral Gables itself, the Biltmore Hotel, was designed with Spain’s Andalusian region in mind, serving as the quintessential backdrop. Guests will be dazzled by its magnificent array of courtyards, gardens, fountains, plazas, and ballrooms.
Within The Biltmore’s grand ballroom, adorned in tapestries of brilliant reds and golds, gala guests (enjoying flutes of Spanish Cava) will by mesmerized by the exuberant, theatrical flair of Spanish guitarists and the beauty of flamenco dancers. Along with live entertainment, the evening offers live and silent auctions filled with exotic worldwide travel excursions, luxury retail items, gift certificates and more.
Gala attendees will take a culinary journey to the Iberian Peninsula with a delectable menu prepared by award-winning Biltmore chefs Michael Vietta, David Hackett and Olivier Rodriguez. Amidst the gowns and tuxedos, guests may, as in years past, opt for designs in step with the theme, donning matador-fashioned suits or flamenco-style dresses.
A number of prominent members of the community will be honored, including Manny Medina and the Medina Family, presented by Greenberg Traurig, who will receive the Willy Bermello Legacy Award; Jon & Nancy Batchelor honored with the Arts & Culture Award; Swanee & Paul DiMare receiving the Jerry Santeiro Community Award; Tom and Marie-Ilene Whitehurst receiving the Philanthropy Award; Mike Lowell honored with the Sports & Wellness Award presented by Doctors Hospital and Miami Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Institute; David Lawrence honored with the Education Award; and Bacardi receiving the Landmark Award presented by The Biltmore Hotel.
