Jossie Aguirre to Lead Humane Society

Jossie Aguirre has joined the Humane Society of Greater Miami as the executive director. Since taking the role of Interim Executive Director in March of 2022, Aguirre – the Humane Society wrote in a press release — has led the organization with vigor. Her hands-on approach and commitment to the animals has re-energized the staff more than ever and has brought on many positive changes in just the past ten months.

Previously, she served as the organization’s Director of Marketing and Special Events, according to the release, during which she dedicated her time to providing a voice for every dog and cat that entered the shelter in need of a forever family. With over 20 years in marketing, event and non-profit experience, Aguirre worked hard to create new events and build partnerships, helping spread the organization’s mission further. She used her expertise to revolutionize the way we promote and advocate for adoptions, spay/neuter, and the humane treatment of all animals.

“As a passionate animal advocate, I have always hoped to be able to make a true difference in the lives of animals,” says Aguirre. “I am excited to steer the Humane Society of Greater Miami into a new era in animal welfare via enhanced community partnerships through our programs and services. I look forward to all the incredible work we will do for the animals!”

The Humane Society of Greater Miami is a limited admit, adoption guarantee facility dedicated to placing every dog and cat in our care into a loving home, and to promoting responsible pet ownership and spay/neuter programs.
