Party People
TheSalonniere.com – a website dedicated to entertaining – has created a list of the country’s top party hosts and, along with Jennifer Aniston and Oprah Winfrey, lie a few local Miami names.
Actress Gabrielle Union and her Miami Heat-playing husband Dwyane Wade are well-known around here, says the site, for their elaborate theme parties. Last October, to celebrate Union’s 46th birthday party, they hosted a 90s bash featuring a surprise performance by Lil’ Kim. Also on the list, Whitman Family Development executive and columnist Stephanie Sayfie Aagaard, philanthropist Swanee DiMare and animal activist Yolanda Berkowitz and her husband, real estate developer Jeff Berkowitz.
The Salonniere team says it spent six months surveying social authorities including journalists, philanthropists, non-for-profit fundraisers, event planners and cultural and business leaders.
Fashion Film
Ornare — creating luxe interiors for closets, kitchens and baths — hosted a reception for The Art of Fashion Film in its Miami Design District showroom. Part of the Fashion in Film Festival, a British-born three-day occasion, it was presented by MDC’s Miami Film Festival and Miami Design District. The panel discussion featured speakers including director Vitoria de Mello Franco and the event was chaired by The Metropolitan Museum of Art associate curator, Christian Larsen. Guests included Cathy Leff, Liliana Beltran, Adriana Lerner, Samuel Veloso, Roseli Croce, Patricia Lima, and Claudio Faria.
7-Years for Villa Azur
Villa Azur, Miami’s South of France-inspired culinary and entertainment destination threw an anniversary bash last Saturday to celebrate seven years. The White Party served specialties such as octopus escabeche, mini pomme dauphine and gruyere and brie cheese puffs while guests sipped Perrier Jouet Champagne, Entourage Rosé and a St. Germain Spritz made with sparkling wine and lemon zest. Resident DJ and producer Stephan M set the tone with globally-inspired beats while the evening’s entertainment featured a live saxophonist, aerialist, stilt walkers, magician and dancers.
For dessert: a 5-tier pink champagne cake with raspberry filling, edible orchids, and edible 24-carat gold.
Monty’s Back in the Mix
Monty’s Marina is back after hurricane Irma, with a sea side makeover and an invitation for us all to come our for a sunset this Thursday. There will be live music, cocktails and light bites at our newly rebuilt Monty’s Marina.
