The Edit, Episode 13
Make-a-Wish Kick Off
Al and Nancy Malnik held a garden party at their Ocean Ridge estate to support the 25th Annual Intercontinental Make-a-Wish Ball next November. The annual event traditionally serves as the first in preparation for the highly anticipated ball and welcomes a well-heeled group of supporters who this year included Danielle Gonzalez and Todd Edwards Rubenstein, Linda Levy Goldberg, Shareef Malnik, Fabian Basabe Sr. and Maryann Basabe, Fabian Basabe, Timolin Cole, Laura Buccellati, Christina Termine, Tara Solomon, Nick D’Annunzio and Libia Scheller. In addition to the fully-stocked bar, Syltbar filled glasses of sparkling rosé and Prosecco as guests toured the grounds, admired the massive and museum-caliber art collection and nibbled on caviar, lamb chops and tuna tartare.
The Fast Collection of Aged
Former race car driver Kevin Buckler — who’s today CEO of Adobe Road Winery and The Racers Group — introduced his new line of wines inspired by a lifetime on the track. After iconic wins at races in Le Mans and Daytona, Buckler at the Fontainebleau Hotel introduced four wines that comprise his wine brand, The Racing Series. To compliment the sipping sequence, Prestige Imports brought on site a collection of rare and exotic vehicles by Lamborghini, Rolls Royce and Porsche. Taking it all in were guests that included Angela Birdman, David Rosen, Mariann Marinberg and Deborah Spiegelman. (photos by Brian Cleary). Continued…..
Dogs, Cats and Books
Broadway performer, celebrated entertainer and Sunny Isles resident Bobbi Dick hosted a book signing for “1 + 9,” a children’s book the author says is aimed at grownups for its story of how one dog and nine cats create a family unit. Held at Books & Books in Coral Gables, Tara Gilani emceed the event that included a reception with Veuve Cliquot Champagne and hor d’oeuvres by chef Allen Susser. “I want children and adults to celebrate and be thankful for the unconditional love that dogs and cats bestow upon humans,” says Dick, who is donating proceeds from the book to the Humane Society of Greater Miami. Sweet Collaboration of Miami Flavors
In an unlikely alliance that on second thought fits perfectly, Havana Club Rum is collaborating this month with The Salty Donut to create the Rum Cake Croughnut. It’s a limited-edition item available exclusively at the South Miami location and lasting just 10 days beginning Friday May 24th. This creation contains a layered brioche croughnut with Crème de Vie filling, infused with a HAVANA CLUB Añejo Clásico rum reduction. Rolled in cinnamon sugar, topped with gold flakes and homemade rum cake crumble, the Rum Cake Croughnut is inspired by traditional Caribbean rum cakes; the quintessential rum-infused sweet treat. If you’re over 21, you get a “surprise” treat with purchase.
