Women’s Philanthropy of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation will host two exceptional programs, recognizing Jewish women who, through their commitment of time and support of the Annual Federation/UJA Campaign, are helping to care for those in need, fund vital programs and strengthen Jewish life in Miami, in Israel and in more than 70 other countries around the world.
The Women’s Event luncheon, beginning at 11:30 a.m., will celebrate the power of extraordinary women during an extraordinary year that marks Israel’s 65th anniversary and Federation’s 75th anniversary. Among the many highlights of the afternoon will be keynote addresses by popular sex therapist and author Dr. Ruth Westheimer and former Soviet refusenik Alina Gerlovin Spaulding.
Prior to The Women’s Event and beginning at 9:30 a.m., Federation will host a special morning program for those women who participate in the Annual Federation/UJA Campaign at the Lion of Judah level. Renowned Jewish studies scholar Arna Poupko Fisher will address attendees as part of a celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Lion of Judah, a respected symbol of Jewish women’s commitment to social justice and philanthropy.
Pam Wolofsky is Chair of The Women’s Event and Terry Drucker is Chair of the Lion of Judah event. The event committee includes Yael Ackerman, Elaine Bachenheimer, Rebecca Karsenti, Sandra Lapciuc, Jill Schwartz and Veronica Zarco. Laura P. Koffsky is President of Women’s Philanthropy and Elise Scheck Bonwitt is Campaign Chair.
