Walk the Talk for Epilepsy
presented by Nicklaus Children’s Hospital’s Brain Institute
Epilepsy Alliance Florida (formally Epilepsy Florida) wrapped all seven (7) Walk the Talk for Epilepsy presented by Nicklaus Children’s Hospital’s Brain Insitute Brain Institute throughout Florida last month. Over 1,500 individuals attended the walks and raised a total of $415,000. Local cities throughout Florida included Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, Naples, Ocala, Jacksonville, and Pensacola.
This year’s event marked the organization’s 50th anniversary in the celebration that had a Gala Walk and officially announced its name change to Epilepsy Alliance Florida. More than 500,000 Floridians struggle with epilepsy, making it the state with the most instances in our country. Epilepsy is the fourth most common neurological disorder after migraines, strokes, and Alzheimer’s disease, and it is also the most misunderstood and underfunded.
