Winner Of 40th Anniversary Bookmark Contest
Amy Araya, 9, a patron of the Miami Beach Regional Library was recently selected as the winner of the Miami-Dade Public Library System’s 2011 Make-a- Bookmark Contest. Amy’s bookmark design was chosen out of 2,000 entries submitted by children at all 48 branches in the countywide system. The annual contest, sponsored by the Miami Dolphins Foundation, was open to children ages 6-12, who were asked to submit a drawing with the theme “Let’s Celebrate the Library’s 40th Birthday,” a milestone that the library will commemorate starting in January. Amy, a student at Fienberg Fisher Elementary in Miami Beach, received several prizes and a special certificate – presented to her at a recent Miami Dolphins football game by Governor-elect Rick Scott and Dolphins CEO ,Mike Dee. More than 20,000 bookmarks, with Amy’s design, will be distributed throughout the library system in 2011. The Make-a-Bookmark Contest was presented with the generous support of the Miami Dolphins Foundation and the Friends of the Miami-Dade Public Library.
