Coming Soon: Locust Project Roundtables

Locust Projects is heading into its 15th year in 2013. Three Miami based artists founded this not-for-profit exhibition space as a venue that provides artists with the freedom to produce site-specific works, and experiment with new ideas outside the confines of more traditional institutions. The growth of Locust Projects has included expanding its public programs, and 2013 kicks off with the continuation of the successful Locust Roundtables, taking place throughout February and March. Locust Roundtables take place on a weekly basis and are free and open to the public. The discussions on topics in contemporary art are proposed and moderated by members of Miami’s art community and beyond.

Design District Gallery Walk

The February 9th Gallery Walk in the Miami Design District brings beginnings and endings. This is the last chance to see “Pleat Construction” a solo project by Jim Drain at the de la Cruz Collection Project Room. Since its inception in 2009, the de la Cruz Collection Contemporary Art Space has supported local artists through its lively Project Room exhibitions and “Pleat Construction” does not disappoint. Granite Transformations will open a new exhibition of paintings by Nora Alejandra Curia, and in honor of Valentine’s Day Swampspace will open “La Maison Du Desir/The House of Desire” a collaborative installation by artists Lea Nickless and Conrad Hamather. This is only a sampling, to experience all the wonderful art, design, food and good company the Design District has to offer you have to come out for this free event. 7-10 PM, second Saturday of every month!
