Explorers Camp

Join Miami Children’s Museum this summer and travel around the globe! Each week children will discover different countries, cultures, art, music and science! Complementing the weekly themes, campers will explore the Museum’s galleries as well as participate in off-site field trips to fully immerse them in the different cultures, art, foods and music of each destination on their summer journey.

Camp Broadway 2017

Monday – Friday, August 7 – 11 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Camp Broadway is an immersive summer camp for theater-loving kids (ages 10-17), offering hands-on experience in theater, song, and dance. The program welcomes all skill levels, and no prior experience is required. The week-long program will culminate in a special finale performance featuring Shrek the Musical Jr.! Camp Broadway enables kids to develop their confidence, character and presentation skills through ensemble performance. The program is non-competitive and ensemble-based. A typical session includes master classes in voice, dance and acting, Q&A’s with industry professionals, and a backstage seminar with a production crew. Plus, campers have the opportunity to rehearse and perform on four different performance spaces at the Arsht Center, including the Knight Concert Hall. Campers will learn from Broadway’s best! The program is five days (40 hours) and includes official Camp Broadway t-shirt; Cast of Characters headshot; healthy lunches, snacks and water; and complimentary admission to the Family Finale performance. Tuition is $750.

Creative Arts Summer Camp

June 12 – August 18 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA), North Miami, will host its 2017 Creative Arts Summer Camp, five 2-week sessions for ages 6 through 12. Each session will offer a different theme to help kids experiment with a variety of art and design techniques in a creative environment. Campers are taught by art professionals, and all projects will be inspired by great works of art, dating from antiquity to the present day. Camp Schedule: June 12 – 23: Fairies and Trolls; June 26 – July 7 (no camp on July 4): Dragons and Knights; July 10 – 21: Heroes and Monsters; July 24 – August 4: Kings and Queens; and August 7 – 18: Mario and Sonic. Pre-care and after-care can be provided for an additional fee from 8:30 a.m.to 9 am. and from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Cost is $160 per 2-week session for the general public and $120 per 2-week session for MOCA members, North Miami residents and employees.

YALA Youth Artist Learning Academy

June 12 – 30 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays
Florida Grand Opera’s learning academy is back and better than ever! If you are in grades 7 to 12, and an aspiring young classical singer, have a talent in creating the magic of the backstage world, or are a budding opera aficionado, this camp is for you. Held in FGO’s rehearsal studios, YALA is a three-week day-camp program where participants receive invaluable hands-on experience with leading industry professionals and performers. Each instructor at YALA is a nationally-acclaimed specialist in their field, selected specifically to offer campers a broad and accurate view of the world of opera. All participants will take a number of fun and engaging classes ranging from performance and diction to design and production. In addition, YALA participants attend exclusive workshops with Florida Grand Opera senior staff, master classes with industry luminaries, and roundtable discussions with mainstage FGO singers. The three weeks at YALA will conclude with a showcase performance in the Balfe Studio where opera stars from across the globe have rehearsed for Florida Grand Opera productions over the years. New this year – those who graduate from YALA 2017 will have the opportunity to repeat their final showcase in a professional performance at the new Pompano Beach Cultural Arts Center on September 16, 2017! Applications will be accepted until all spaces have been filled. Also available – optional Advanced Techniques from 4 to 5 p.m. and Career Trace Classes for an additional fee.

3 Robots – Gametech Institute Robotics Camp

Monday – Friday, June 26 – July 21 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

POPCollage

Monday – Friday, June 26 – 30 from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m.
The POP Collage workshop will focus on experimentation in collage techniques. Campers will learn simple ways to create interesting textures and patterns using paints, gel mediums, photo transfers and methods for working with magazines and text. Basic supplies and tools will be provided. Participants are encouraged to bring their own favorite personal papers, photos, magazines and anything else to add to the art. Cost is $200 per participant. Materials and snacks are included.

Boys & Girls Clubs Summer Program 2017

June 12- August 4; Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The 2017 Summer Program at Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade will be offered at four different locations, providing children the opportunity to learn values like friendship, honesty and teamwork by offering a safe and secure environment. Campers participate in fun indoor activities, including arts & crafts, computers, games, movies, basketball and more. Outdoor activities include all types of organized group games, and field trips are also offered to exciting locations – the movies, bowling, Chuck E. Cheese’s, swimming field trips for older groups and more. A free nutritious lunch and afternoon snack are provided daily at no additional cost, or campers may bring their own lunch. To register, parents must come in person to the specific Club where their child will be attending. Dates, duration and price vary depending upon club location.

Summer Camp at Frost Science

June 19 – August 11 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Dissecting squids, launching rockets and building lasers — it’s all in a day’s work during Summer Camp at Frost Science! After 50 award-winning years at the Coconut Grove location, Frost Science Museum is kicking off its inaugural summer camp season at its new home in Downtown Miami’s Museum Park. At Frost Science Summer Camp, students entering grades 2–5 will explore riveting, real-world subjects alongside inspiring educators and scientists who share their passion for science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Campers will get hands-on with science through four different week-long camps themed around the amazing science featured at the museum, including: Crazy Contraptions (engineering); Shark, Shores and More (marine biology); Flying High (physics of flight); and All About You (the human mind and body). They’ll design a plane, meet the animals in the Aquarium, explore the universe in the state-of-the-art 8K Frost Planetarium and learn about the amazing human body and brain in four unforgettable weeks. Summer Art Camp

July 17 – August 18 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The Bass’ Summer Art Camp is back for children ages 4 to 12. It features hands-on art experiences that develop skills in a variety of media and teach about important artists throughout history, with each week devoted to exploring a particular theme with a multitude of activities. The 5-week program is taught by professional art educators daily, Monday through Friday. Campers are divided in to two age groups: ages 4 to 6 and ages 7 to 12. Camp is hosted in the museum’s newly designed Creativity Center where campers will enjoy visual art, multimedia and performing arts activities, as well as weekly adventures in Collins Park! Tuition is $200 per week for Museum dual/family members and $250 per week for non-members. After-care is available until 5:30 daily for an additional $10 per day per child.

Summer by the Sea Camp Marine Science Day Camp

Have the best summer ever at the Biscayne Nature Center’s Summer by the Sea Camp for kids, aged 8 to 12. Be a free bird and dance to your own beat with your own choreography! At Center Stage Miami Dance and Music Academy, students will engage in educational activities with the basis of dance and music. Recycled ARTCouture

Campers, ages 10 to 16, will be taught by professional artists and designers to create fashion designs by recycling old clothes into new unique art garments. Learn to implement different techniques that include painting, fiber drawing, sewing, embroidering and collaging as you make several wearable pieces and have a fashion show at the end of the week. 2017 Summer Film Camp

Florida Film Institute offers a summer partnership with the Coral Gables Cinemateque where 25 high school students, ages 13 to 18, will attend summer workshops. Students will focus on essential and practical aspects of commercial motion picture production, including script preparation, cinematography, lighting, sound recording, directing, acting and music. The program will feature instruction by South Florida Film Industry professionals. The total camp fee for six weeks is available at $695 plus a $50.00 non-refundable registration fee.

Little Revolt’s Miami Shakespeare Camp for Teens

Theater Creative Camps and Broadway Bound

Miami Childrens Theater runs camps in two locations, Coral Gables and Kendall, with a one of the top theater summer camps in the nation. Camp locations in Coral Gables and Kendall with a camp for younger actors (Creative Camps) and teen actors (Broadway Bound). Campers work four weeks on a big musical and then present the production for friends and family. This year summer camp shows are Jungle Book and Seussical for Creative Campers (5 through 12) and Les Miserables and Anything Goes for Broadway Bound campers (12 through 18). French Summer Camp in Miami
