FIU Scholarship Auction
Held for the benefit of future industry leaders
Florida International University’s School of Hospitality and Tourism Management will launch their first FIU Hospitality Online Auction on September 3, 2010. Proceeds from the auction will benefit the school’s scholarship program, grants for students to attend industry conferences, and funding for student teaching assistantships. Sponsored by Carnival Cruise Lines, the online auction is an exciting way for the school to reach a broader audience of potential donors and help the next generation of travel and tourism professionals achieve their career goals.
“Ensuring that our students have the opportunity to pursue their dreams of a career in hospitality is our number one priority, and we are thrilled to work with FIU’s dedicated industry partners to embark on this new means of reaching our scholarship goals,” said Dean Joan Remington.
Over 100 auction items are available for bidding from September 3 to October 3, 2010, ranging in price from $250 to $7,500. Some of the auction items available for bids are: travel packages from Loews Hotels across the US and Canada; hotel stays at InterContinental Hotels throughout China; entertainment experiences including tickets to Miami Heat games; and culinary opportunities such as pastry cooking and “brew your own label” classes with FIU professors.
