Enjoy an exciting and varied evening of choreography by some of today’s most outstanding choreographers, including NWSA alumnus and Artistic Director of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater company, Robert Battle and by Eduardo Vilaro, Artistic Director of New York City’s Ballet Hispanico Dance company. Battle’s work, Boxed, is a dramatic and powerfully rhythmic contemporary dance work while Vilaro’s work, Chance of Thunder, is an upbeat evocation of a group of prom-going young people, experiencing the insecurities of youth, set to a rousing score by Juan Garcia Esquivel. Works will also include a contemporary ballet work by renowned New York City-based choreographer Jessica Lang, Oblivion, set to a driving tango by Argentinian composer Astor Piazzola. The program is appropriate for all ages.
