65th Annual Beaux Arts Ball
Beaux Arts celebrated its 65th annual ball with “The Greatest Show on Earth.” Miami’s longest running costume ball was held at the Ritz Carlton in Coconut Grove where guests were whisked under the big top for a fun and philanthropic night benefiting Beaux Arts educational programs.
Guests were immediately immersed in a thrilling world of acrobats, fire throwers, and stilt-walkers as they drove up to the valet. As they entered the cocktail party under the stars, the crowd was entertained with tightrope walkers and flame throwers, as they sipped on beverages donated by Bacardi. Vintage circus videos were projected on the walls creating a magical atmosphere as gusts bid on items from the silent auction.
The vintage theme circus ball was chaired by Cia Mackle, Gigi Citarella Polit, and Amanda Thompson. One of the highlights of the evening was the costume parade and contest, where guests dressed as vintage clowns, lions, and circus entertainers strutted their stuff in front of judges. The winning costume went to past Beaux Arts President Mary Mills.
A special tribute was also paid to the 65 past presidents of the organization and the rich history of the group’s dedication to arts education to school children across South Florida. The City of Coral Gables presented a special Certificate of Appreciation for ther contributions to the City Beautiful. For more than six decades Beaux Arts has introduce children from underserved communities to the world of art, and encouraged art awareness and advancement through support of the Lowe Art Museum at the University of Miami.
