Switchboard Miami All Star Awards Luncheon
Switchboard, Miami’s premier information and referral services nonprofit, held its Third Annual All Star Awards Luncheon at Jungle Island. In preparation for this event, seventeen judges, including entertainment lawyer Steven Machat, HOPE Founder and Dean of the University of Miami Marni Lennon and many other esteemed community members, volunteered their time to judge countless nonprofit nominations in six different categories. The seventh award category, the Miami All Star Award, was determined by Switchboard’s social media-based competition where nominees submitted their logo, which was added to an album on Switchboard’s Facebook page; the non-profit with the most “likes” on their logo won the competition. This year’s Miami All Star winner was City Year Miami, with almost 200 “likes.”
At this fall luncheon, Switchboard honored over 20 non-profit finalists and presented the awards to seven winners. The applications were narrowed down to 3-5 finalists per category and award winners include the NE 2nd Avenue Partnership, Lotus House, Educate Tomorrow, Best Buddies Miami, I Am Able Fitness, and FANM.
The event was MC’d by Barry Johnson, CEO and President of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce, and the Title Sponsor was the Miami Dolphins. Other notable sponsors include the Goldstein Schecter Koch, BDO, Interamerica Data Florida, Kimley-Horn, the Miami Marlins. Switchboard is looking forward to hosting its Fourth Annual All Star Awards next October 2015.
