Florida Grand Opera’s Family Day offers hands-on activities which give families a look behind-the-scenes into the world of opera. Its staff and volunteers will take you through a variety of activity stations showcasing the different creative fields that go into bringing an opera performance to life. Learn about the magic of special effects and design your own set; get “styled” like a real opera singer with costumes and make-up; play a tune in our Instrument Petting Zoo; and learn how to sing like an opera singer in an interactive group lesson. Finally, see how these elements all come together in a performance of Don Pasqualito – a 45-minute, family friendly adaptation of Donizetti’s delightful comedic opera Don Pasquale. Families who stay until the end of the performance will be given a free goodie bag, which includes an “Opera Funtime” book, generously donated by the Young Patronesses of the Opera.
