A SoBe Wedding

Josh and Ashley Liemer Tie the Knot

Ashley Cahill met Joshua Liemer one New Year’s Eve in South Beach at a house party at the Murano Grande. This story, however, does not begin with a New Year’s kiss at midnight, as Ashley was coy. Not until after a four mile run the following Friday did Ashley give in to Josh’s pursuit, and the rest, as they say, is history.

It was a summer wedding that brought together hundreds of people spanning the country and from as far away as Israel as Josh and Ashley Liemer were married on June 13, 2009.

As the planes landed at Miami International Airport – the party began. As Ashley and

Josh’s childhood and college friends came in from Los Angeles, New York, Michigan, Colorado and Tel Aviv they blended with the couple’s many Miami Beach friends. The festivities began at Alton and 11th at 8 Oz. Burger Bar to watch the NBA finals.

The wedding headquarters were at the Raleigh. Even the rabbi who flew in from New York chilled with the crowd at the hotel’s legendary pool.

The official wedding festivities began with a St. Tropez white party rehearsal dinner at Club Nikki. Hundreds of people came together to celebrate the bride and groom, but also to roast the couple. Friday night continued after Club Nikki with most of the crowd going to the Florida Room at the Delano followed by late night at Mynt.

The bridal party consisted of seven women and nine men and Josh’s two nieces were the flower girls. Preparations continued in both the Esther Williams Suite and the Raleigh Suite. The groomsmen were all looking dapper in their handmade bowties from Bruce Cameron Clark of New York City…although no one knew how to tie them.

The bride and groom chose the historic Temple Emanu-El for their ceremony and reception. Officiated by Rabbi Charles Simon of New York City and Cantor George Mordecai of Temple Emanu-El – the ceremony was spectacular. Cantor Mordecai and his trio of musicians performed songs spanning different genres. The bemah was designed by Pistils and Petals and combined crystals, feathers, chandeliers and flowers. The groom was dressed in Prada and the bride’s dress was custom designed by the bride and Mika Inatome of New York City.

Al Davis of Pistils and Petals transformed the ballroom to look like a South Beach night club from the 1930’s. A special component of the night was a beautifully choreographed fox trot with the bride and her father to the song The Way You Look Tonight by Frank Sinatra.

The evening ended in the wee hours of the night back at the Raleigh Hotel as everyone partied the night away. The gang awoke early the next morning for a farewell brunch the Standard Hotel.
