Bal Harbour Shops Presents Lanvin to Benefit Project: New Born
Schatzi Kassal is Honored
French elegance came to Miami as Lanvin Paris presented the United States premiere of its Resort 2011 Runway Show at the famed Fontainebleau. Benefitting Project: New Born, the runway show was the centerpiece of a magnificent evening.
Prior to the main event and while guests enjoyed cocktails, a private and emotional VIP reception was held in honor of Project: New Born founder, Schatzi Kassal. In front of family, friends and colleagues, the woman who dedicated the past 37 years to helping premature infants watched with the utmost humbleness as it was announced that the neonatal unit at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital will be renamed The Schatzi Kassal Project: New Born Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Following the VIP reception and cocktail hour – which featured a stunning silent auction that included design, travel and fashion items, as well as art works donated by several artists-in-residence at the Bakehouse Art Complex in Wynwood – the nearly 600 guests flowed into the fabulously designed main room that was conceptualized by Sharon Siegel and Robert Torres of Deco Productions/Grande Affaires.
The night’s main event was the Lanvin Paris Fashion Show, which included selected silhouettes from the Été 2011 Pre-Collection. During dinner guests were treated to a glamorous runway show featuring the best of famed Lanvin designer Alber Elbaz’s resort collection.
Following the fashion and while guests danced and partied to live music, yet another room opened to reveal a dessert display fit for majesty. Some of Miami’s greatest chefs assembled for this one night to present a sinful sampling of their dessert prowess. It was a night to behold that eventually concluded with the “Loving Lanvin” Lounge & Absolut after-party.
Honorary chairs for the evening were Melanie Cohen, Sharon Siegel and Cheryl Stephenson. Esteemed guests included: Schatzi & Stanley Kassal, The Whitman Family, Project: New Born’s founding babes Sandy Ratner, Bella Goldstein, Marlene Berg & Alice Goodhart, Andria & Javier Holtz, Bubba and Robyn Kassal, Bonnie Blank, Alan Rosenthal, Sarah & Austin Harrelson, Brooke Soffer, Jean Rosenfield, Cheryl & Jaime Peisach, Kathy & Daniel Haime, Lola Jacobson, Dr. Ira S. & Susan Jacobson, Carolyn Ryan, Eva Hughes, and Cecile Andrau.
