Baptist Hospital “Jeans and Jewels” Ball

Raising $300,000 for Baptist Hospital Radiology Department

Co-chairs Tom and Leslie Murphy and Hope and Jack Ziffer, M.D. Mr. Murphy is a member of the Baptist Health Foundation Board and Dr. Ziffer is chief of radiology at Baptist Hospital.
Nostalgia, glitter and rock ‘n’ roll brought down the house at the 30th anniversary of the Baptist Hospital Ball at the Doral Golf Resort & Spa. Nearly 650 guests danced around the theme of “Rock ‘n’ Royalty,” at the milestone event, which represented the first informal “jeans and jewels” gala affair for Baptist Hospital. This exciting, non-traditional fundraising evening raised more than $300,000 for a great cause –– the Radiology Department at Baptist Hospital.

Dr. Jack and Hope Ziffer and Tom and Leslie Murphy were co-chairs for the event. “This has been an unbelievable experience for Hope and me,” said Dr. Ziffer. “This gala has been a resounding success in raising funds for the Radiology Department while enjoying an outstanding evening.”

Presenting Sponsors were Coastal Construction Group and Radiology Associates of South Florida. Other major sponsors included Sheridan Healthcare, Inc., AvMed, Inc., Advanced Medical Specialties, Respironics and Buchwald Jewelers, Inc.

Reliving the concert experience, guests passed through “security,” approached the “ticket booths,” steered clear of “scalpers,” and posed for the “paparazzi” –– all while listening to old-school rock ‘n’ roll from 93Rock during the reception.

Inside the ballroom, concert covers of 70’s/80’s rock hits – courtesy of Dr. Jack Ziffer and Ziffer 6 – brought back sweet memories, while guests dined and danced in royal style. The Healers, a Latin rock-and-fusion band featuring Dr. Raul Valor, grooved folks well into the night.

This year’s proceeds will support Baptist Hospital’s Department of Radiology. New technologies, along with advances in research and education, contribute to faster and more accurate diagnosis. To continue to excel, the acquisition of new technology will be a priority. A philanthropic partnership between Baptist Hospital and the residents of South Florida will contribute to a healthier community.
