Belen Jesuit Preparatory School 31st Annual Gala
The 31st Annual Belen Jesuit Gala held at the Moore Building was a success! Thank you to everyone that supported our school and joined us for One Night Only – Belen in the District.
This One Night Only semi-formal event is an opportunity for members of the Belen Jesuit community and their guests to enjoy a delicious meal, music, socialize and have fun. Over 500 people attended the One Night Only- Belen in the District Gala.
“The Annual Gala exists to raise funds for the Scholarship fund and provides assistance to deserving students who cannot afford a Jesuit education,” said Jesuit Father Pedro Suárez. “This would not be possible without your generosity. This One Night Only event is the biggest annual effort to raise funds for the financial assistance program.”
A special thank you to our amazing chairs: Brenda Moreira, Maria Orbay, Carmen Garcia-Velez and Beba Padron and to our wonderful Master of Ceremony Beatriz Canals.
Every year the scholarship fund provides financial aid to over 300 students; annually distributing in excess of $1.8 million.
The Jesuits founded Belen Jesuit Preparatory School in 1854 in Havana, Cuba. In 1961, when Belen and all private schools were confiscated by the new political regime, the school was re-established in Miami that same year and has grown over the last five decades. Currently the enrollment is nearly 1,500 male students in grades 6 to 12 and over six thousand alumni. For the SEVENTH consecutive year, Belen Jesuit has been named one of the Top 50 U.S. Catholic High Schools by the National Catholic High School Honor Roll.
