Miami City Ballets 2018/19 Season opens this weekend in Miami with two George Balanchine masterworks: the fiery Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No. 2 sweeps you off into the imperial grandeur of St. Petersburgs court; and see the music in Concerto Barocco, the quintessential Balanchine ballet set to Bachs glorious Double Violin Concerto in D Minor. Then, Paul Taylors Company B will have you dancing in your seats to the catchy harmonies of the famed 40s trio, The Andrews Sisters, with their Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy; Oh Johnny, Oh Johnny, Oh,! and Rum and Coca-Cola. Performances are Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2. The production moves to Broward Center next week for two performances.
