The Miami City Ballet is celebrating National Dance Day with a dance party in Collins Park followed by an Open House across the street at MCB Studios to showcase MCB School programs. The free event is a fun way for the whole community to get together and celebrate dance. National Dance Day originally launched in 2012 by “So You Think You Can Dance” co-creator and Dizzy Feet Foundation co-president, Nigel Lythgoe, in effort to encourage Americans to stay active and curb obesity. Since then, there have been celebrations in Los Angeles and Washington D.C., but this is the first year that there will be an event in Miami Beach. There will be an outdoor dance party with a live DJ, where participants will join together for the nationwide NDD flash mob. The event will also feature dance classes (for all ages), an open house, refreshments inside MCB’s studios and a meet and greet the own Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders.
