Meet Miami City Ballet’s Artistic Director Lourdes Lopez and playwright Tarell Alvin McCraney, go behind the scenes with Miami City Ballet dancers and watch performance excerpts in a fun, intimate setting! This Open Barre event will preview MCB’s new production of George Balanchine’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” bringing some of Shakespeare’s most celebrated characters to life. Explore how ballet dancers draw upon dramatic techniques from the theater for inspiration with costume and design historian Tanya Williams Wetenhall. Tickets are just $35 and include a complimentary lobby “open bar” featuring wine and soft drinks, beginning 30 minutes prior to curtain. Performances are Friday and Saturday nights at 7 p.m. and Saturday afternoon at 2:30. The first 26 Miami Beach residents who arrive at the box office at 1:30 on Saturday will receive complimentary tickets for the matinee performance. Must present valid ID with Miami Beach address.
