Gala Gal – Ana Codina Barlick
Miami City Ballet Gala heads to Wynwood
Inspired by the historic collaboration between famed choreographer Justin Peck and street artist Shepard Fairey, each moved by the art of Wynwood Walls in the creation of this season’s original Heatscape piece, Miami City Ballet presents its 2015 Gala with a fusion of art, dance and music at Wynwood’s Soho Studios.
Chaired by Ana and Robert Barlick, the highly anticipated event will feature a one-night only, unique video art installation combining classical ballet with the street art that makes Wynwood such a uniquely Miami locale. The film, created by the dancers of Miami City Ballet with local Miami filmmaker Gil Green of 305 Films, is a love letter to the city of Miami.
Also of particular note, all 50 of Miami City Ballet’s dancers will attend as guests and be seated with donors at the Gala.
In honor of Ana Codina Barlick’s commitment to this year’s MCB gala and the vision to move it to Wynwood, let’s learn a little about this gala gal.
A South Florida native and an advocate for the arts, Codina Barlick is the vice chairman of the board of trustees of Miami City Ballet. She resides in Coral Gables with her husband, Robert Barlick, Jr., and their three children.
Professionally, Codina Barlick is CEO of Codina Partners, a real estate investment and development firm based in Coral Gables, a company she founded in 2009 alongside her father Armando Codina.
The firm now manages a $1.35 billion real-estate investment portfolio, including mixed-used projects, commercial buildings and other investments primarily in Florida, and operates as one of the largest builders-developers in Florida through its subsidiaries; CC Devco, a single family home community developer; and CC Residential, a multifamily community developer.
Codina Partners is also the master developer for Downtown Doral, a 120-acre master-planned community and Doral Government Center.
Overseeing the infill project from the very beginning, Codina Barlick helped transform a decades-old suburban office park and gray field into a landmark mixed-use development providing a new urban center for the City of Doral with residential, retail and commercial offerings, (partially completed and occupied) an elementary school and a public park featuring a signature pavilion by world renowned artist Michele Oka Doner.
