Great Collaborations

Louis Vuitton and Takashi Murakami. Prada and The Great Gatsby. Isabel Marant for H&M. Jason Wu for Lancôme. Stella McCartney for Gap. I love a good fashion collaboration as much as the next girl and have obsessed over past partnerships such as Missoni for Target, but collabs don’t always pan out — remember the Neiman Marcus for Target flop? Uh huh.
Well, the Design District pulled a fashion partnership for Fall that I’ll be saving for at this past Art Basel 2013 whirlwind: Atelier Swarovski by Maison Margiela Paris. On Thursday 5th December, a private cocktail was held at the Maison Martin Margiela boutique to celebrate the launch of Atelier Swarovski by Maison Martin Margiela’s avant-garde new jewelry collection, “Crystalactite.”

As for those jewels, think futuristic and forward thinking. The limited edition of pioneering baubles are created using an innovative fusion technique which blends crystal and matte white resin so that the crystals appear to emerge spontaneously from their natural, organic origin. Up for keeps are a pendant, ring bracelet and brooch – with a decidedly avant-garde aesthetic. So Margiela!

For a glimpse at the novel jewelry collection, swing by Maison Margiela’s Design District boutique – and keep in mind this combo exceeds its hype. Take that, lack luster collabs. Maison Margiela, 3930 NE 2nd Ave # 101, Design District.
