Greater Miami Jewish Federation 2018 Main Event
More than 1,000 members of Miami’s Jewish community gathered for a powerful program on Monday, February 12, 2018, at the Greater Miami Jewish Federation Main Event at the Hilton Miami Downtown.
Chaired by Nadine and Steve Foldes, the event raised funds for the Federation/UJA Campaign in order to care for people in need, support vital programs and strengthen Jewish life in Miami, in Israel and in more than 70 other countries around the world.
The evening featured remarks from community leaders, including Federation Board Chair Amy N. Dean and Federation General Campaign Chair Jeffrey Scheck.
A highlight of the evening was when US Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen received Federation’s 2018 Friend of Israel Humanitarian Award. She closed her speech with a powerful reminder: “None of us are truly free from the indignity and the disgrace and the threat of racism, discrimination, and terrorism, until all of us are free from these indignities and threats.”
Keynote speaker Lt.-Gen. (Res.) Benny Gantz, former Chief of the General Staff of the Israel Defense Forces, also shared insights from his distinguished career.
