Honoring Brett Ratner
Film Mogul Partakes in a Creative Conversation
Miami Beach was star-studded once again as the Miami World Cinema Center (MWCC) hosted a conversation with Brett Ratner, famed film director and Beach High grad.
The evening began with a “Conversation with Brett” at the Miami Beach Cinematheque. The conversation was moderated by Patrick de Bokay, CEO of MWCC.
A standing room only crowd filled the Cinematheque’s stylish new location in the Miami Beach City Hall to hear Ratner tell wonderful stories about his rise from obscurity to stardom.
His theme was focused on a concentration on the craft of filmmaking and a tenacity to succeed. No matter what the obstacle, Ratner persisted, making the most out of opportunities and fostering relationships in the process that would pay dividends in the future.
At the conversation’s conclusion, Ratner was honored by Miami Beach commissioner, Michael Gongora, who proclaimed May 13 “Brett Ratner Day” in the City of Miami Beach.
Following the lecture, Ratner’s longtime friend, restaurateur Shareef Malnik, hosted a private dinner reception for Ratner and MWCC at The Forge. As could be expected, the intimate dinner was impressive. Photographer Bruce Weber, tennis great Serena Williams, Anthony Kennedy Shriver, realty personality Katrina Campins and Burn Notice’s Gabrielle Anwar were all in attendance.
