International Kids Fund Latin American Art Auction 2006 Raises Funds for Critically Ill children
The International Kids Fund (IKF) Board of Directors, under the leadership of its Chairman Rosy Cancela, held its signature fundraising event, the IKF Latin American Art Auction 2006, on Thursday evening September 21, at the prestigious Cisneros Fontanals Arts Foundation (CIFO) in Miami. In just two years this remarkable auction has become one of the most important art events in South Florida. Over 500 guests, among them Jackson Memorial Foundation supporters and renowned art collectors, attended the event and bid on works by their favorite artists. Vick Muñiz, Kcho, Jose Bedia, Alfredo Jaar, Amelia Pelaez and Teresita Fernandez were among more than ninety artists who donated their work for the children. The event raised over $300,000.
“This event makes history because it links both the arts and the medical philanthropic worlds, a never before happening in town. So, bottom line,” says Rosy Cancela, chairwoman of IKF, “the monies raised will save the lives of many sick children. Everyone who purchased art left the event with a beautiful work of art and a warm feeling in their hearts. What can get better than that?”
Proceeds from the art auction benefit critically ill children, primarily from Latin America and the Caribbean, who need medical treatment they cannot receive in their home countries. The children are treated at the Holtz Children’s Hospital, located on Jackson’s Campus. For more information about the IKF, please contact Maria Luisa Chea at 305-355-4999.
