Miami Beach Centennial Documentary Premiere

The documentary entitled “MIAMI BEACH: 100 Years of Making Waves” was premiered at the Miami Design Preservation League on Miami Beach. Over 100 guests attended the special event celebrating the film that will be aired on WPBT-TV on Monday, August 3, at 9 p.m. Produced and directed by Emmy winner Robyn Symon and hosted by author and adventurer, Charles J. Kropke, the documentary traces the colorful history of Miami Beach back as far as the mid-1800s.

“What started out largely as swampland is today one of the hottest destinations in the world,” said Kropke. “From explorers to land barons, gangsters, fashion models and celebrities, this little seaside jewel with its signature Art Deco backdrop, has weathered many waves of change.”

MIAMI BEACH: 100 Years of Making Waves seamlessly weaves rare historical footage and interviews with acclaimed local historians, Art Deco preservationists, politicians and civic leaders who guide viewers through the many booms and busts during the city’s colorful history.
