Miami City Ballet hosts Nutcracker Magic
Miami City Ballet hosted its annual Nutcracker Magic Children’s Soirée, a holiday brunch in a winter wonderland setting at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts’ Peacock Foundation Studio. The event, organized by co-chairs Asha Elias, Nikki Squire and Tina van der Ven and sponsored by the David and Leila Centner Foundation, Centner Academy, welcomed more than 230 children and their parents for sweet treats and a meet-and-greet with dancers from the production.
Following brunch, guests enjoyed a VIP performance of George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker® and backstage access with themed photo opportunities.
After the performance Big Brothers Big Sisters was hosted in the Peacock Foundation Studio for The Sugar Plum Holiday Party, sponsored by Wells Fargo Private Bank. Their constituents enjoyed a dessert bar while dancing with characters from The Nutcracker performance.
The event raised more than $170,000, from which proceeds will support the Community Engagement Programs at MCB School, including Ballet Bus and the Student Scholarship Fund. Collectively all the current outreach programs impact approximately 19,000 local children and families each year.
