Miami City Ballet Hosts Nutcracker Magic
The Nutcracker Magic Children’s Gala chaired by Tina Carlo and Ana-Marie Codina Barlick now in its fourth year, was an exceptional experience enjoyed by more than 230 attendees last Sunday. Inspired by all new sets and costumes designed by artistic power couple, Isabel and Ruben Toledo, the children’s gala was part of the debut performance weekend in Miami.
A spectacularly themed brunch held at The Adrienne Arsht Center sponsored by Heide & Jose Dans began at 10:30 AM in the Peacock Foundation Studio. Transformed into a magical winter wonderland, guests dined at tables dressed in rich winter fabrics with wrought iron sculptures inspired by the Toledo’s Nutcracker designs. Colorful theatrical lighting and draping provided the backdrop to dining and dancing. The kids had a blast twirling around the dance floor joined by Miami City Ballet dancers as the DJ Michael Sarysz put the room on its feet! Pictures were taken at the Nutcracker Magic Photo Booth to capture the festive holiday spirit and fun, which was sponsored by Publix Super Markets Charities. Every child received a Nutcracker soldier compliments of Stearns, Weaver, Miller Weissler Alhadeff & Sitterson, P.A. The performance began at 1:00 PM and guests transitioned to the main hall for premiere gala seating. Additionally, backstage access was available to all VIP ticket holders who were among the first to see the new sets and costumes up close.
