Miami City Ballet’s 2019 Gala
Supports School Scholarships and Community Engagement
Miami City Ballet held its annual Gala at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach. The event was co-chaired by Lisa and Jay Massirman and Margot and Allen London. Over 480 guests including board members, local philanthropists, and government officials were transported back to the Art Deco era, a theme inspired by the school’s beginnings on Lincoln Road and the venue being an iconic Art Deco property. Attendees were treated to an original performance choreographed by Miami City Ballet School Alum, Durante Verzola, and performed by pre-professional students of Miami City Ballet School. Kristi Jernigan, Board Chair, introduced Tania Castroverde Moskalenko, Miami City Ballet’s Executive Director, who then introduced the new senior staff of the organization, consisting of all culturally diverse women. Miami City Ballet’s Artistic Director Lourdes Lopez introduced the company dancers and students performing that evening and spoke on how dance impacts our community with its transformative power to change lives.
