La Isla De Los Hombres Solos (The Lonely Men’s Island), written in 1968 by José León Sánchez, is considered one of the bestselling Costa Rican literary novels of all time. The story narrates the events that occurred in the San Lucas prison on an island located off Costa Rica’s Pacific Coast. In 2016, Teatro Expressivo brought this relevant novel to the stage when playwright Caridad Svich made an adaptation for theater. A cast of experienced actors brings this work to life, which constitutes an intense reflection on the value of freedom. Presented in Spanish.

With the novel Don Quixote, author Miguel de Cervantes created one of the most unique personalities in fictional literature. Don Quixote was a knight-errant, a figure who won no battles, a deranged man who loved the freedom to do good. The characters from this mythic story have been adapted to the stage to partake in new adventures told through ballads, making for a remarkable theater experience. Presented in Spanish.
