Onyx Women Arts Network Launches @ Arsht Center

The Arsht Center launched the Onyx Women Arts Network: Women of Color + Culture (OWAN) in partnership with MIA Media Group with a private dinner attended by 90 culturally-minded female professionals from all over South Florida. OWAN’s mission is to deepen the connection between the black and African-American community and the Arsht Center. Hosted at the Center’s BRAVA by Brad Kilgore, the event featured five-time Grammy Award-nominated rapper “Dice Raw” (Karl Jenkins) of the legendary The Roots crew and also included the launch of the Miami Diaspora Fund, a new Arsht Center initiative that exists to commission and present transformative works by artists of color who have been historically underrepresented on America’s performing arts stages. To join the Fund, please contact Carlton Ford, Director of Membership, at 786-301-1078 or cford@arshtcenter.org.
