Russell Simmons’ Intermix Shopping Event During Art Basel

Regal Vanderbilt Mansion on Fisher Island

Russell Simmons hosted a shopping event during Art Basel to benefit his arts education foundation at Intermix for the young, gorgeous, and hip.

The entertainment mogul returned to Miami to host a cocktail party for the second year in a row during Art Basel Miami Beach to benefit his Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation.

This year’s event featured the artwork of Shinique Smith, and was held at the fabulous boutique Intermix, which features the designs of Herve Leger, Catherine Malandrino, and Rachel Pally.

Russell Simmons co-chaired the event with philanthropist and former Elite model Allison Weiss Brady and husband Chip Brady, whose company, Energy & Fuel Consultants, works with governments to help them save money on fuel purchases.

Much to the delight of the crowd, Grammy Award-winning lead singer of Creed, rock star Scott Stapp, and his wife Jaclyn Stapp, Miss New York 2004, stopped by. Stapp made an impromptu announcement and promised to donate funds from his foundation to Russell’s non-profit.

Event chairs were Melanie & Ryan Herman, Diane N. Weiss, and Jill Viner, co-owner of the Florida Panthers.

The fete was attended by the who’s who of Miami and New York: Intermix’s Khajak Keledjian, Haro Keledjian, and Sari Sloane, Rush Philanthropic’s Tangie Murray, fashion designer Julian Chang, Ocean Drive magazine’s Jacquelynn Powers and Lana Bernstein, Nicole Lozano, Dana Shear, Miss Florida 2004 Kristen Berset and Brian Larrabee, Jennifer Getz, Olga A. Arguello, former NFL player Alex Moyer and Irene Marie model Veletta Marshall, Caroline Waxler, Ray Javdan, Jennie Hatton, Erin Newberg, Alex Heckler and Tiffany Zientz Heckler, and more.

Sponsorship was provided by Grey Goose vodka and Wicked Good Chocolates by Emack & Bolio’s, and the event was underwritten by Wonderful World Art Gallery, the pop art gallery to the stars that specializes in vintage cels and drawings from Disney, prints from Harry Potter, and artwork by Charles Fazzino, and whose clients include NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Tony Hawk, and Creed lead singer Scott Stapp.

The Intermix shopping event was the official Kick-Off Party for Russell’s “Art For Life Miami” gala that will be holding its first soiree next April 5th in Miami. For more information, contact RushPhilanthropic.org.
